About This Research

🎯Why We Did This

As AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode reshape how people discover information, we recognized a critical gap: there was no systematic understanding of how Indian users actually use these platforms. While speculation were in abundance, real data was missing. We wanted to ground our work at Neusearch with evidence about authentic user behavior, not assumptions.

🔬Our Methodology

We conducted a retrospective survey across 40 regular ChatGPT users spanning 15+ Indian cities. Rather than asking hypothetical questions, we collected 238 unedited, authentic prompts directly from users' ChatGPT history. This approach gave us genuine insights into:

  • What people actually search for vs. what they say they search for
  • Usage frequency and integration into daily workflows
  • Language preferences and prompt complexity
  • Professional vs. personal use patterns

💡Why This Matters to Us

At Neusearch, we believe that helping brands succeed in AI search requires deep understanding of user behavior. This research validated that AI search adoption in India has moved far beyond experimentation - 85% of our sample uses ChatGPT daily, with 42.5% primarily for professional work. These insights directly inform how we help brands optimize their visibility and content strategy for AI-powered discovery.

🚀Our Commitment to Research

This is just the beginning. As AI search continues to evolve, we're committed to conducting ongoing research to track changing behaviors, emerging patterns, and new platforms. We'll continue publishing our findings to contribute to the broader understanding of AI search in India and help brands navigate this transformative shift in digital discovery.
